Tomorrow's Avocado
A ridiculous poem about putting things off and regret.
Once I bought an avocado,
ripe and ready to eat,
But I told myself, "not today,
tomorrow it'll be a treat."
So I put it on the kitchen counter,
and went on with my day,
Promising myself I'd enjoy it,
in some distant future way.
Days turned into weeks,
and weeks into months,
That avocado sat there untouched,
a symbol of my neglectful stunts.
Eventually, it began to rot,
and I had to throw it away,
Regretful of my laziness,
and the opportunity I let fray.
But now I've learned my lesson,
to seize the moment and not delay,
For tomorrow's avocado may never come,
and that's a price too high to pay.
